If you follow my blog regularly, you know that music is my language. It moves my heart, it draws me close to God and brings perspective to my soul. There are days that I bust out singing song lyrics to describe my mood or situation. #musicisinmybloodSlide1

I asked all my favorite bloggers to share a song that represented their 2015 year!  When I hear a story behind a song, it makes listening to that song so much more meaningful!!  Check out our SLP stories for 2015. #songstospeaktothesoul

My song for 2015 is “Better When I’m Dancing” by Meghan Trainor because this has been a year of letting go.  Letting go of pain, letting go of doubts, letting go of insecurities and letting go of always fitting in the mold both personally and professionally.  When I am dancing (both literally and figuratively speaking), I tune out all the noise, embrace the music and confidently tackle LIFE. – The Dabbling Speechie

My song for 2015 is All the People Said Amen. It’s been a rough year, personally. This song has lifted me up when I needed it!-Old School Speech

“Best Day of my Life” is my song choice because this was a FANTASTIC year for me. I graduated from grad school, went on my first Disney cruise, got to see my CA family 3 times this year, watched my husband graduate, and got to meet so many new friends through my blog/TPT store. I am truly blessed and this has been the best year of my life!-Talkin’ With Twang

Although it’s on the sad side, “See you again” by Wiz Khalifa helps me remember the fantastic memories of my grandfather I lost this year and those I’ve lost in previous years. It helps to put things in perspective and to remind myself to live each day in the moment! We only have one life!- Speech To The Core

Blessed by Martina McBride is my song choice. This year has been full of blessings for me and my family, both professionally and personally. As the song says, I’ve been blessed with more than I deserve, and I thank God everyday for His hand in my life.- Speaking Freely SLP

My song would have to be “Brave” by Sara Bareilles. This year I’ve really showed up and worked hard, even when it wasn’t easy. Putting yourself out there as a blogger and TpT seller takes a whole lot of heart. That’s why I choose that song.-Speech Is Beautiful

Fight Song! This is a great song of encouragement! It’s all about never giving up! Perfect for young kids showing effort as well as those of us needing to show strength!-Sparklle SLP

Since there are two of us, picking one song was a little difficult; however, “My Story” by Big Daddy Weave represented both of us very well. Has this year been perfect? Of course not. We’ve both experienced ups and downs, but through the good times and the bad, we both realize how incredibly blessed we are smile emoticon Looking forward to 2016 – Kim & Angela Sounds Like Fun

“It is Well” by Kristene DiMarco would be my song choice. 2015 has been an incredible year for me, and my faith has brought me to such a happy place. I’m incredibly thankful for the road that has gotten me here, all of our blessings this year, and I’m looking forward to what 2016 has in store-Crazy Speech World

This year has been a ton of firsts and growth that all were pretty darn scary for me. My song is “Fly” by Maddie and Tae. I had to remember to keep pushing forward to achieve what I wanted. I am so excited for 2016 and all the new experiences that are waiting!-The Speech Bubble SLP

Imagine Dragons-It’s Time. I stepped out of ALL my comfort zones this year, both personally and professionally. I ran (and finished!) my first half marathon, started a new PRN job, flew to ASHA solo and met so many wonderful readers at the blogger booth, and made so many TPT strides to name a few. When I look back, I realize the biggest barrier in my way was ME! I especially appreciate the lyrics “It’s time to begin….I get a little bit bigger, but then I’ll admit I’m just the same as I was, I’m never changing who I am- Let’s Talk Speech Therapy

My choice would be “Focus” by Ariana grande… I feel like this past year it was important for me to focus on the things that meant most to me which were my son Landon, family, friends, and TpT/blogging! I had to find a good balance between it all and I’m feel really proud of what I’ve accomplished in my personal life- Live Love Speech

My song of the year would be Kelly Clarkson’s “Invincible” — I came out of my blogging shell this year, went to TPT headquarters and ASHA. I had some rough patches in my personal life but I’m keeping my head up high and reminding myself that I can overcome it all!-Speech Time Fun

My song of the year would be “I’m a Survivor by Destiny’s Child. I lost my part time help at my school this year, we are trying to begin RTI for speech, and Medicaid paperwork each month is insane but “I am surviving, keep on surviving.” With all the changes I know I am doing a good job for my students because I can see their progress. –The Speech Place

Our song for the year is I Got You Babe by Sonny and Cher! Josh and I have had a lot of changes in our life this year! Through new career choices, traveling, and managing our busy household we have been able to lean on each other and enjoy it all. –Peachie Speechie

“Dirty Work” by Austin Magone. It’s been a year full of evals, meetings, and paperwork..”but when you do what you love, you’re gona love what you do”. Lucky to be an SLP.-SLP Runner

My song for this year is “Take a Walk” by Passion Pit. It’s a get up and move song. I’m spending way too much time on the computer, so when it comes on I get up and dance!- Linda@Looks-Like-Language

“Confident” by Demi Lovato is my song for 2015. I stepped out of my comfort zone this year and presented (All. By. Myself.) at my state convention!-Activity Tailor

My song would be Dolly Parton’s “Working 9 to 5” I worked so very hard this year on my Etsy store and even sacrificed my summer to have new items in my store for back to school. Learned my lesson though….all work and no play is not for me! –  Dean Trout’s Little Shop of SLP

“Shake it off” by Taylor Swift is my 2015 song. It has been an awesome year but also a very trying one and this has been my mantra especially for the last 3-5 months.-NW Speech Therapy

Wasn’t that inspiring?  As I was prepping this blog post, I realized how amazing it is to reflect on the idea that there are SLP’s all over the world just like me sharing their talents and abilities with people (young and old), so that they can be better communicators! Let’s hope for a great 2016!  What’s your song for 2015?  I would love to hear about it.
