Winter Sensory Bin Mittens W/ Articulation, Vocabulary & Emotions Activities

$6.75

Description

This winter sensory bin is just what you need to make your speech therapy articulation activities a success! Sensory bins are an excellent resource for making speech and language learning engaging. These winter sensory bin activities are perfect for targeting articulation, emotions, synonyms, antonyms, categories, and word association matchups.

Ditch the flashcards and worksheets and use this winter sensory bin for interactive articulation activities!

Have students describe the items on the mittens, use them in grammatically correct sentences, answer wh-questions about the items, and practice naming synonyms, antonyms, word associations, and categories with the language cards.

The emotion/thought mitten match-ups are to work on perspective taking and what someone might think if they were feeling a particular emotion.

Hands-on winter articulation activities!

You can pair this winter sensory bin with the book, The Mitten by Jan Brett to work on speech and language skills. Your students who need tactile input will love using sensory bins.

➡️ How to Assemble the Winter Mittens Sensory Bin for Speech Therapy:

All you need is a container or bin to hold some your tactile material (i.e. dried black beans, white sand, snowballs, etc.). I got my container at Target, and it has clasps. I bought white sand at the dollar store, which looks like snow.

Print the desired mitten stimulus cards that you want to use in your sensory bin. Print on cardstock and laminate if you prefer. You can either cut the mittens out or just cut around the square card template (this is a little quicker). This product takes some time to assemble, so I recommend you only print the stimulus items you need to make it more manageable with prepping.

Print the mitten baskets and tape/glue to metal or plastic bins for the students to put the mitten pairs inside. You can also have them put the mitten pairs they pick on top of the basket.

Tip: Tie a string to two paper clips. As the students find mitten pairs, they can slip the mitten cards onto the paper clips to show that they match.
