Somebody Loves You Mr. Hatch FREEBIE craftivity

This past week I have been using the book Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch (paperback) (affiliate links included for your convenience) in the therapy room.  Before my own copy of the books arrive, I showed my kids the book using storyline online.  It is a great FREE resource!

We used many of the activities from WhitneySLP‘s book companion pack, which was a time saver for me!  I love how the comprehension questions had visual choices, which was great for my little ones who are having difficulty with answering questions correctly.

You can snag this book on amazon for a great price!  I am really glad I bought it because it covers so many language targets including social skills!

somebody craft 1Yesterday we did a fun craftivity because there is no school for the students Friday.  We have an inservice, so we celebrated Valentine’s day on Thursday!

photoI just used the di-cut of a heart and printed out my template of “Somebody Loves You”.  For my artic kids, I used the boxes and we wrote words in the boxes that had their sounds.  You can grab this template  HERE!

somebody craft 2I had the kids think about somebody that they really loved and they wrote in that person’s name.  We then folded the piece and glued each side of the paper to the hearts.  The kids decorated the hearts with stickers and it turned into a little heart book that when the Valentine is opened the phrase “somebody loves you” pops up!  It was very easy prep and the kids enjoyed it!  Hope you can use this in your therapy rooms.
